Christopher Nolan’s Tenet is the highly anticipated movie of this year, and I am very eager to see it in theaters. If it wasn’t for Coronavirus, this would have been a celebratory time for me and countless other Nolan fans in India, who would be clocking their eyes on the ticket windows. Sadly, it is just the opposite, and there is a big ambiguity relating to its release date, for the theaters are indefinitely closed as a preventive measure taken by the government.
This month, after a series of nationwide lockdowns, the government resumed a lot of economic activities with fewer restrictions. Though, cinema halls remained closed and were speculated to open in mid of July. The consistent increase in the COVID active patients, however, have maintained a doubtful situation.
Today, positive news has emerged from media reports that Tenet release in India is expected on July 31 with the rest of the world, and there will be no additional delay.
Warner Bros. is Working Assiduously for Tenet Release in India
Warner Bros India is currently working on the dubbed versions of the film, for it to be ready by July 31, if the opportunity arises. The studio recently postponed most of its big-budget releases to a farther period. It primarily includes Petty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 2 (October 2, 2020), The Flash (June 3, 2020), Shazam 2 (November 4, 2022), and the highly anticipated, Robert Pattinson’s The Batman (October 1, 2021).
Tenet is being dubbed in three Indian languages: Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, which has become a customary practice for every Hollywood film to make the most of the country’s culturally diverse audience.
Unlock 2.0 is Expected to Reopen Movie Theaters
While the theatres in the United States are confirmed to reopen, the Indian government is yet to declare their decision for the same. It is expected that the announcement of Unlock 2.0 will include reopening of the movie theatres, with specific precautionary measures.
These measures will include limited shows per day, with the screening of fewer films. The seating capacity is also expected to be reduced to 25% for maintaining social distancing. Besides, Air conditioning is also very doubtful, for it can spread the virus, in case someone is infected.
The Interval is also assumed to be much longer for the sanitization process to occur, especially for films of lengthy duration. Tenet is clearly going to be over 2hours and 30 minutes mark. Hence, in case the movie theatres open, which I strongly hope they do, it is possible for the film to have a prolonged interval.
Nevertheless, it is good news to come out, for every Nolan fan has been regularly searching for Tenet release in India. It stars John David Washington in the lead role, with Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, and Kenneth Branagh playing the supporting characters.
Tenet is presumed to alter the conventions of espionage films as it boasts an intricate, time inversion plot that falls on the lines of the maestro director’s career-defining film, Inception. Watch the trailer below.
